Dino's Colored!

I finally colored my splash page! Thing took forever, and if I have time and people like it I might go back and add a bit more detailing where needed. I'm learning that with colours, keeping it right but then simple is the way to go.

A Magneto Marriage!

Sir Ian Mckellen and Michael Fassbender couple!

A fun humor assignment! Putting together the two Magnitos, since Sir Ian Mckellen mentioned wanting to marry Michael Fassbender. Just a bit of modest smut!.

Dino's in New York!

A fun assignment to draw Dinosaurs attacking New York City! I am hoping to color it soon, and never do such wacky perspective again.

A Horror Image. We were given spooky quotes and had to create an image that tells the story. My line was "I am vigilant about Demons trying to steal my body. This one belongs to me!"- or something along that line.

Narrative Art Pages: Boba Fett!

These are some narrative assignment pencils. I tend to change a lot in the inks so I think they will be interesting. The first two are a story where two boys are in the woods, so to make it interesting I got some of the young folk in my youth programs. Also Boba Fett
Boba Fett!

And these two were about and alien in the old west. A good practice in drawing muscle tissue.

Painting Landscape: Reproduction
Darth Maul Painting: Reproduction

Some Paintings that we do in Second year. It's a way to learn about color and explore new mediums. Normally I don't just reproduce a painting, so it was a nice exercise. Love me some Episode One!

It's fun that I can now draw Batman! This was a cover assignment we had to do and I wanted to do something a little more surreal.

Rosh Hashana Card!

We had to do Greeting card illustrations and I had an idea for the creation of the universe-For a Jewish New Year card!. I'm starting to connect with digital colouring and think that I can start making things more successful with colours.

Iron Man! Niagara Falls! Art!

We had a fun assignment where we had to sell a product in a two page comic book story. Because of my experience working at Niagara Falls and the challenge of drawing the Iron Man armor, this story came together in my head pretty quickly. The day it was due I found out that Iron Man and M&M's were teaming up to sell something. Foresight is everything!

Some fun Methods Assignments! This is on a cool kind of paper called Duotone. Allyways are fun to draw!

And a Portrait of my brother Ben. Hoping to practice stronger contrast between light and dark. Also, people who know him will know that this is the only time in history that he will be wearing a hat!

SHAZAM!!!!

A fun story assignment, where I got to draw buildings and lightning at the same time. I like how my buildings are coming along., I hope the faces and figures catch up soon. On the bright side Black Adam (The evil Shazam) looks upset and his eyeballs are lightning... so I'll enjoy the moment as it is...

New York Comicon and FIrst Published Comic

What an Amazing Weekend! I got to go to New York Comicon, met many art heroes I had. I feel I learned a lot from what was told about my work and I can really focus on making the changes I want in my art.

And if that was not enough, I get home and my first print run of a comic book is waiting for me! 100 copies of my educational comic "Into the Mind of USY"! Thanks to my friends at the Mansion who helped me bored the books and I cannot wait for all of my participants to see their hard work and dedication rewarded. I cannot wait to see where these things lead a year from now!

All I can say it "TANK YOU" to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today!

So I am back at the Kubert School, and this is my first narrative assignment that I wanted to share. We were given a page description and had to adapt the concept into our own story. I threw a lot into this one and feel that I learned a lot in new ways to render different elements. Look to see those microscopic people in future pieces

This drawing shows my beginning to second year at the Kubert School. Nice new challenges to keep up with! I will try to update my blog more often this time around!

I wanted to share these pieces because, they were my two most confounding pieces I did this year yet I might have learned the most from them. The first one was my attempt at a dynamic perspective, and having it be far too contorted let me learn more about perspective later on. Carful when looking at this one, people tend to get dizzy!

The second one- which I still don't really know what it is :)!- helped me again with perspective, but this time with the difference between camera angels. Meaning that for this piece to work, I would have had to show the entire thing from an down-shot, which I personally could not have mastered if I did not see it in this piece.

I am proud of what I learned from these pieces and wanted to share what lessons I have been learning this year more than what I felt was successful artwork.

Justice Society

This piece marked the halfway point during the year at the Kubert School. The assignment was the same as our initial assignment (the one with the sword!) and we needed to consider the aspects of art that would inform our artwork.

I spent a lot more time on this one than I did with my earlier pieces and while there was a bit of struggle, I ended up liking the textures and patterns I used to bring the piece together.

And for the uninitiated, These are some members of the Justice Society, The first team of Comic Book Superheroes.

This was an assignment to do a wraparound cover, meaning the front and back cover make one image. My plan was to throw as many people into the composition as I could while still being readable.

Dog

In Another inking Assignment, this is a dog I drew to practice inking lines with a brush. It enhances my long love of drawing as many dots as I can in my work, as you will keep seeing.
